molasses

granulated (white) sugar

dark brown sugar (or white sugar + 1 tsp additional molasses)

all purpose flour

baking soda

cinnamon

tsp
powdered ginger

cloves

(optional)
Demerara decorative sugar
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350˚F.
Mix together the softened butter and all the sugar. Then mix in the molasses and then the egg.
Add the flour and spices. Optional to refrigerate the dough for 1 hour.
(Optional to sprinkle or roll in decorative sugar.) Bake at 350˚F for ~15 min. Let cool on pan form ~2 min, then transfer to rack. Chewiest when warm!
